Meadow River Lumber Company Historical Photos, Information and Articles Main Slide Show (updated weekly!) - A collection of more than 773 historic photos and articles about Rainelle and the Meadow River Lumber Co., assembled by Gerry Mitchell. Some go back to 1911. Updated on an ongoing basis. 9-7-09 A slide show developed by Gerry Mitchell from pictures by Andy Aide Pendleton of the Kenneth Bragg Memorial Childrens Park in Rainelle adjacent to the golf course. Kenneth lost his life as a youth in an abandoned Meadow River swimming pool. The park is a memorial for Kenneth and a very nice playground/park for the Rainelle children. 8-1-08 Meadow River Lumber Company Festival Book - 181 photos - Loaned by J.W. Puckett, scanned by Gerry Mitchell - A history of Rainelle and the Meadow River Lumber Company from 1906 to 1970, complete with a very interesting list of people who worked at Meadow River Lumber Company over the years. 4-30-07 - A link to a YouTube video sent by Gerry Mitchell that provides the sights and sounds (including the whistle) of the Meadow River Lumber Company Heisler #6 steam engine and a Shay engine similar to the ones Meadow River used. 5-1-07 - An excellent photo collection of train photos, including Shays and other historical trains collected and scanned by Gerry Mitchell.
5-12-06 6-30-06 - Meadow River Post 1986 Article - Meadow River - A Heritage Celebrated PG 1 PG 2 from Rip Johnson estate. 6-30-06 - Photos from the Rip Johnson estate - Meadow River Lumber Co & Workers 1925 and a photo of the NEHI Bottling Softball Team -1956 A very large poplar log being hauled by a team of two horses and Meadow River Lumber Company employees as pictured in a newspaper article. 7-25-06 - Meadow River Lumber Company and Rainelle Methodist Church Chestnut Interior Photos scanned with the permission of the West Virginia Division of Culture & History documents loaned by Norma Walker Zopp, scanned by Gerry Mitchell - 1) Kodak 2) Photoworks. Separate include 1) Rainelle Methodist Church interior in Color 2) Rainelle Methodist B&W 3) Meadow River Lumber Co.
