Hello everyone, I have uploaded some photos that I hope you will enjoy. I had Staples (office supply store) scan several pages of a Class of 64 yearbook and also scan some very nice photos that Virginia Meadows sent of a recent Rainelle reunion. Staples saved the scanned photos to a CD for me. (Virginia Meadows is wonderful about taking photos and cataloging events.)
If any other classes wish to place their yearbook photos online, please take them to Staples, Kinkos or another office supply place, ask them to scan them to a CD and send the CD to me -- or upload them to Photoworks.com, Kodakgallery.com or Walmart's photo page and "share" the link with others on this discussion board or send the link to me and I will place it on the board.
Gerry Mitchell had warned me that the yearbook photos did not scan well for him. As you will see, there are some patterns ingrained into the photos. However, they are still fun to view. The reunion photos came out well.
I have copies of the scans of the class of '64 yearbook and the reunion that are approximately 35% larger. If you want a digital copy of any of them, let me know and I will e-mail them to you.
I will probably also put the photos on the final Website. However, in the interim, you can save (using right mouse clicks) or print from here or order print copies from Photoworks.
The Photoworks slide show has several options, e.g., a larger view of the photos, different speeds or you can simply view them one at a time. I hope you enjoy them.
Andy Aide Pendleton sent a booklet with the first reunion photos. I am having it scanned now and will upload it next week.

Rainelle Class of '64 Yearbook Photos - Update - 3-14-06 - Gerry has scanned additional photos from the '64 Yearbook, plus has improved the existing ones considerably. (I had a service scan the initial ones - Gerry's are much better.) http://www.rainellereunion.com/64.html

Dale: I commend you for this undertaking. What a joy to click on this website and see the names of friends and acquaintances and to view the photos loaded on here. Thank you so much for a touch of home in Tennessee. Marilyn. |

Thank you, everyone, for your very nice comments and contributions. It is a real thrill to see the activity and to catch up on old friends. (By old, I don't mean in years. 60 doesn't seem old like it used to.)
Hopefully, some of my closest friends will keep some of the stories to themselves if they meet my daughters. Just kidding, comparatively speaking (to today's times), we were pretty tame.
Colin Lively and I got together last night in NY and had a wonderful discussion about some of the good times we Rangers had growing up. I will post a couple photos of our visit later.

We have a real treat. Gerry Mitchell, Class of 64 - now living in Ohio, went to great pains to take and prepare 2006 photos of Rainelle for those of you who don't get back often. That was very thoughtful of you, Gerry. Gerry also included two scans of paintings by Jeanne Brenneman, who is listed above. One of them is Rainelle High School: http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=u46feyk.635fr70&x=0&y=apuzp6 If you see login fields, ignore them and click below where it says to view the photos without logging in.
Gerry has been very helpful and supportive in our efforts to get the board going. Thank you, Gerry!!

Gerry: Thank you for putting those photos of Rainelle on this website! I am deeply moved by the submissions to this site and all the wonderful pictures. I hope more and more people sign up - they are truly missing something great. God Bless all. |

Hello everyone,
I had the scanning service I use (Staples) rescan the Reunion 1 booklet that Andy had been kind enough to send to me. Staples had initially scanned 2 pages at once despite my instructions to scan each page individually. Here is the Reunion 1 booklet scanned one page at a time. Staples still did not do a great job, but this did help with the clarity of some of the photos and they are much better than the first link I posted. I hope you enjoy them: http://www.photoworks.com/share/shareLanding.jsp?shareCode=AA1D8A1C02D&cb=PW
The prior version is located at: http://www.photoworks.com/share/shareLanding.jsp?shareCode=A2ADC52C018&cb=PW
If you want an original version of one of the photos, feel free to contact me. The originals are considerably larger. Or, you can save (right mouse click), print or order prints of the photos from Photoworks.

Thanks Gerry for the pictures that you took of what the ol' town looks like today. I really enjoyed them. FYI (For everyone) as Dale pointed out earlier http://earth.google.com is a truely great program and its free and http://terrafly.com is another good progarm for aerial views. If only earth.google had the resolution of the entire globe that it has for major cities. I especially like the tilt mode that allow you to fly over an entire area.
Rainelle looks the same from space as I remember it. Gerry's pictures tell me something quite different.
Any ways, one question I have for here, what is the construction west of Sewell Creek and south of the rail road and sort of east of the now closed lumber yard? |

Gerry Mitchell sent another photo - a parade photo from the 2nd reunion. His mother, Wenona Flint Mitchell Class of 38, is in a convertible with some others. Another photo was sent (I apologize - I have forgotten who sent it) is the Rainelle band marching in a parade in Huntington. Some of you may recognize some of those in the photos.

Gerry Mitchell is going to periodically improve photos and send them to be uploaded to the Website. Gerry is very good with photoshop and other image software tools. He has scanned and improved a 1964 band yearbook photo and a photo of the Rainelle band marching in a Huntington parade (year unknown.) I will add his scans to either Kodakgallery.com or Photoworks.com and periodically announce the updates. Both photo services reduce the sizes of photos. For example, a 1.4MB photo he sent was reduced to 98KB. If you want copies of the originals, please get in touch with Gerry at gerry.mitchell@rainellereunion.com
Update: Gerry has added a wonderful photo of the '64 Ranger football team. His original is 1.4MB in size and is high-quality. He has also added a scan of the homecoming queen and attendants and '64 basketball team.
These photos will generate very nice prints from Kodak.

Thank you, Gerry!!

Gerry: Just viewed your scanned photos on Kodak Gallery. Very sharp and clear. Great job! Kodak Gallery works very well with my dial up ISP. I right clicked on the Queen's Court photo and emailed to a classmate who couldn't remember a certain blonde. He had misplaced his yearbook over the past 42 years, so this will be great to take the place of his 64 RHS Yearbook. Thanks Gerry!!
