Classmates,

On January 25, 2006, Susie Weber Minturn and myself, Andrea Aide Pendleton had ventured on our usual four mile walk on this cold windy day. The temperature was approx. a range of 25 to 29 degrees. I had taken my camera with me hoping to share some Rainelle pictures with our classmates.

http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=prxi0xw.8mwx93g&x=0&h=1&y=5gg1y4

The pictures include:

Greetings !!!

Pictures of the Rt.60,,, I will add no school today !!!

Pictures of the former Rainelle Foodland being demolished to be replaced by a new business coming to town.

A few pictures of the Rainelle United Methodist Church, this picture was taken a few days ago, as you can see no snow.

finally a GOODBYE..WITH A GREAT BIG SNOW BALL THROWN YOUR WAY...

Hope you enjoyed the update,

Andy

Andy: I just finished viewing your slideshow on EasyShare, nice pix. It worked very fast and smooth with the option of my dialup connection. Photoworks doesn't seem to download some of the pix and is very slow loading. So, it is probably my dialup connection.
Thanx......

The pictures are of our November all school planning reunion meeting. I am sorry that I did not take additional pictures of other classmates planning our reunion. I did not realizing to the degree I would be able to share. In the future I plan on taking more pictures to share with all.

Mary Sanford Baglin, Andy Aide Pendleton, and Polly Lively Clevenger

Look again for Rainelle News Updates....different dates previewing new pictures and information. I also invite you to share any New news concerning Rainelle.

Classmates, I may suggest you could post a new topic for the ones living outside of Rainelle News from Classmates from around the World. It would be welcomed by all.

In conclussion I would like to again thank Dale for Our reunion Site
where we can share and enjoy ....

LOOKING FORWARD TO ALL COMING HOME TO RAINELLE

Thanks Andy and Susie for the Photos. These two gals are a common sight walking the streets of Rainelle. We enjoy seeing them and the big smile on their faces. Would also like to tell everyone, new Chinese Restaurant opening tomorrow beside Master's Works Physical Therapy. Very Nice!!

Hello Classmates,

I had taken these pictures a few days ago when the weather was in upper fifties and sunny....as you know very unusual weather for Rainelle....In December we really had the snow...It seems the month of January we would have sunshine with unusal high temperatures, then the next day a cold snowy day...VERY UNUSAL

Be sure and click above to see the pictures!!!!!!

The first three pictures are paintings painted by my friend Shelby Bryant......I purchased one of her paintings when we first moved in our home. A few years later She gave me another painting as a very nice surprise for Christmas. This particular painting was of a flower I was growing in my home which she painted it in its orginal container. The pictures are displayed proudly in my home. Shelby is a Ranger classmate.

The following pictures:

The building of Rainelle Foodland no longer Stands

Pat Vaughan class of 62....Working in her flower shop at Alvis
preparing for Valentine Day

Tracy Cooper class of 1965....Pats right hand man

George Brooks class of 1954....George is Rainelle city coucilman,
He is taking his daily walk surveying
the town.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures...look for more to come....

Classmates as you can see,,this is for fun...as my reporting shows...not an expert...lol

Andy: Nice, bright & colorful pix. Shelby's paintings
are very colorful also. Many talented former students
of RHS. An artist, (2) florist and a fireman. It was good
to see my "sis" again and Tracy too.
Thanx....

Hello Classmates,

This picture is of our dear friend Freda Surbaugh Pruitt.

http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?mode=fromshare&Uc=prxi0xw.jrqnp1w&Uy=-rdqgch&Ux=0

The picture is Freda holding a signed autograph picture and letter from Senator Byrd and Senator Rockefeller. They were congratulating Freda on her recent nineth Birthday. Freda was not only excited over her mail she received on her special day, she was very pleased to be able to celebrate her nineth birthday with eighty of her friends and family.

Yes a surprise party, indeed!

In 1935 Freda graduated from Rainelle High School's original little old white school house. Freda's diploma was enhanced in a leather binder which also included the 1935 class roll and the faculties names, etc.

There were an unbelieveable 92 graduates on this list. .. Joseph Dale Ocheltree was a name we all knew that was among the graduates listed on the class role.

I just can not understand how this little old white shool house could house so many seniors, as well as the other students ..Certainly a point of interest.

Freda is a healthy lady, whom is loved by her friends, family and Church..

Her Husband Joe, daughter Peggy Sue and son-in-law Jack lives in her
heart with loving cherished memories knowing they will be together one day.

As a piece of trivia.... I am looking for the oldest living classmate. Maybe you can help me..??????

Thank you, Andy! It was great fun revisiting the school - walking down the halls, seeing the gym, etc. I got a chill looking down the hall to Mr. Ocheltree's office. Ed Smith sure got a lot of paddlings there. I got one or two, but I think it was a case of mistaken identity - teachers thinking I was Ed Smith or Charley Martin. I still have an image of that wooden paddle in my mind. Mr. Ocheltree sure had our attention. I did not like the thoughts of having to face him if I did something wrong; therefore, I tried my best not to do anything wrong. He was an excellent principal in my opinion.

It was great to see Jean Carol Painter. I still haven't forgiven her for not letting me win at least one spelling bee in grade school. At the next reunion, I am going to challenge her - and let her beat me again. Thank you, Andy!

Andy:
Very nice pictures. Extra sharp and clear. Did you use a digital or film camera?
#1 looks like where the old shop was
#7 looks the way I remember looking at the Principal’s office
#8 is looking north out the back door
#9 appears to me to be looking east to where the Library was
#10 “
#12 I’m not sure but I remember the German barracks that came from the grounds at the Greenbrier
was somewhere back behind and midway between the high and grade school. Band & Home Ec was there.
This building has a very similar look, but much more modern.

Thanks for posting the pic’s.

Yes, a great day of golf......More important is spending times with my friends...

Well, the truth of the matter is you have to make something posititve out of a certain situation. Our golf score....LOL...

The sun was beautiful, the golf was there, and once again our friendship will be remembering another day full of laughter and disappointment with our golf swing.....

from left to right....Andy Aide Pendleton, Mary Hartford Gwinn, Shelby Carr Bryant and Susie Weber Minturn...

Practicing for the upcoming Rainelle Reunion golf tournament 2007....(going to take a lot of practicing)
