Hello Classmates,

Click below and enjoy the Chessie Caboose
Be sure and roll down far enough to read each of the eleven pictures.

Susie and I have been out again doing a little updating while during our walk...We knew you had enjoyed the past featuring the Shay engine...this is also a past ...As you can see the Chessie Caboose has been sitting on the tracks for a long time....

The caboose is a "Do you remember"

CSX owns it maybe they would be gracious enough to donate it to our little community...

Enjoyed the show. Is the building down the tracks the old train station home. That would be across from the golf course.
What does the Rainelle Library look like, if you are down that way.

Buy it and do what with it? We could rent it to Chris when he comes to town.

I loved the pics. I've seen old train cars combined and turned into restaurants.
When are they going to start construction on the co-gen plant?

Andy: Would you take a picture of the old WV State Police office - the driveway side where the benches are? I spent half my life there. Do you have any idea what will be done with the building? It would make a good Rainelle Museum. Thank you, Marilyn.

Andy for the Chessie Caboose I was thinking more along the lines of a “Historical Marker” than private enterprise.
City of Rainelle is probably short on capital but if the city fathers contacted the C&O and ask if they would donate the caboose to the city as a historical site decisions could be made from there. I noticed in one of the pic’s a chalk marking “out of service”. If the C&O would donate it, my guess it would have to be moved off C&O property. And of course restored. WV has one of the greatest “Pork Barrel” senators of all time for spending projects in WV and there possibly could be Federal, State, County, and local funds to make it a historical item. The C&O might even assist. This is just my 2¢ worth.

Does Mike McQuain still work for the railroad? As I remember he had a job of some consequence. If you guys want that caboose, maybe he could help?

All the snake skins are free with more to come I am sure....poison ivy makes a delightful vine, don't you agree...
all that aside the Chessie cat needs to stay ...
Do you think Tink Collins would have any pull with the former Chessie system?

Is the Rainelle Reunion a prelude to the 2007 reunion and then fizzle or are there plans to keep it active?
Consideration needs to be address for income that may be received. You don’t want to have a tax consequence.
Perhaps some sort of tax-free organization could be setup. A Rainelle or local Attorney that would donate his/her time since this organization benefits the community and area as a hole.
Do I remember a post that the Governor’s wife is from Rainelle. WOW! Wouldn’t that be great? An open door into the governors office.

Never ever be afraid to ask. The worst that can happen is you hear NO.

Yes Chris,

All thing you suggest are great ideas...we have one attorney in town...several of our organizations have fizzled out...however we do have a few......

Also, we must find out if the Chessie would be up for sale or a possible donation? A location? How to move?

Yes it would be an adventure along with a large undertaking.
A great outcome it would be....

Is the word if in your vocabulary....
