Daniel Roy Coffman

LEWISBURG — Daniel Roy Coffman, 99, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, after a long and fulfilled life.

Born June 30, 1907, in Greenbrier County, he was the son of the late Harvey Lewis Coffman and Nannie Knapp Coffman.

Mr. Coffman was a graduate of Marshall University and received his master’s at WVU. He was a coach, teacher and high school principal for 42 years at several Greenbrier County schools.

He was a life-long member and active participant in the Lewisburg Lions Club, serving as club president and district governor, the Spartan Boosters, Sons of the American Revolution, Masonic Lodge, Greenbrier Valley Shrine Club and Lewisburg United Methodist Church.

Roy was a fourth-generation farmer on the family farm and was awarded the State Conservation Farmer in 1972. He was a noted steward of the land and country he cherished.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Coffman; sisters, Dora Davis, Madge Whanger and Helen Nesbit; and brother, Paul Coffman.

Survivors include a son, Jimmie Coffman, and daughter, Jeanette Coffman and companion, David Wright; grandchildren, Mike Coffman, Jon Matthews, Lynn McMillion and Danielle Lychek; great-grandchildren, Scott Coffman, Amber Matthews, Samantha McMillion and Travis McMillion; and great-granddaughter, Shyanne Coffman.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lewisburg United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Coffman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCraw Funeral Home, Lewisburg.
