The following is a message the Gerry sent me regarding the Jennis photos that I would like to share with you. quote: I HAVE FINISHED THE JENNIS STUDIO PICS AND SENT THE FINAL ONES TO DALE TO POST. THE JENNIS PAGES PORTION NUMBERS 1 THROUGH 53. THERE WERE ALSO A LOT OF SINGLE PICS. THESE PICTURES TEND TO SHOW THE SIMPLIER LIFE OF THE PEOPLE IN THE 1940S AND 40S FROM THE OLD CARS TO THE OLD TELEPHONES TO THE DRESS OF THE PEOPLE. YOU WONDER WHAT THE PEOPLE WERE THINKING AND THE LIVES THEY LEAD. WHY WAS THE PICTURE TAKEN AND WHAT WERE THE PEOPLE DOING THAT DAY? THEY ARE FROZEN IN TIME ON THE WEBSITE NOW IN A GROUP OF SMALL BLACK AND WHITE PICTURES FOR THE WORLD TO SEE. THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER GUESSED IN A MILLION YEARS THAT THEIR IMAGES WOULD ENDURE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE. WHO AND WHERE THEY ARE NOW IS WITH THE AGES. I WAS PROUD TO FIX THEM FOR THEIR TIME ON THE WEBSITE.
Thank you Gerry for another job well done!!!! Thank you Fred for sharing your memories!!!!

You are welcome. But thse are not my memories. I'm just a custodian of the images.
These were my Dad's memories. I know how deepply important these were to him at a time. Unfortunately, near the end, these were meaningless to him due to Alzheimer's. I am happy others can see them and enjoy them, so they are not just stuffed in a box in our basement.
I'd like to know who some of the folks are. Several photos are of family, but thers are of people Dad saw on a daily walk around town or otherwise that I do not know.
Thanks for the postings. I will continue to enjoy the site and to look for more photos and the like to post.

Hello everyone, Fred Young sent some additional historical Rainelle photos. Gerry enhanced them nicely and we added them to Bob Young's album since they were from the same time period. They include the old K. & P. Drug Store and Post Office, a color photo of Louis Young in front of the store, some additional flood photos, some graduation and baseball photos and a railroad photo: http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=u46feyk.9x18xzt0&x=0&y=yph3jx

Although I don't know the names of the men in the RR photo, the JD Cabin was located at the RR crossing that is now across from the Kroger shopping plaza. Isn't that correct? Help me if my memory is not right...... |

I HAVE JUST BEEN BROWSING THROUGH THE JENNIS STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHS. MY GRANDFATHER WAS THE OWNER OF THE BUSINESS AND I KNOW MOST ALL OF THE PEOPLE. MY FATHER IS IN MANY OF THE PICS AND AM GLAD THAT HE AND HID FAMILY HAS BEEN INCLUDED IN THE MEMORIES OF RAINELLE. DAD LOVED RAINELLE AND I THINK IT WOULD MAKE HIM VERY HAPPY TO BE REMEMBERED AS ONE OF HER SONS. |

I thought I had replied on this one, but I don;t see it. The news article was one of a few or several perhaps that would run in the Meadow River post every few years. |

Does anyone recall Jennis Studio. My grandfather owned the store and was a well-known photographer in the area. My uncle was Don Young, Class of '49. My father Earl Young attended high School elsewherre I believe.
I love the site and just wondered if anyone recalled the store.
