Hello Classmates!!
I wanted to share with you some photos I had taken this past weekend.
Susie and I began our walk Sat. Morning Oct. 13th around Ten A.M. at the bottom of airport road.........The weather was cool, sunny, and a beautiful blue sky. A great time for appreciating our gift from God. In the photos I tried to show you the crisp morning sun and the incline of the mountain. You will see at the top of the mountain two beautiful farms.... The leaves on the trees are just beginning to turn...they have their rich gold and red colors....... I am sure within ten days they will be at their peak....
You will also see the famous Rainelle Airport where Susie and I had our world class, just to die for, peanut butter sandwich .......lots of protein for the walk ahead....... We also encoutnered several hunters, four wheelers, and campers.... Mem geared up for the hunt....
We also encounter a friend who ragged his tail and would not go back home......We had a gentleman to hold the dog captive while we escaped his company...Susie and I were affraid he would follow us to the interstate......
In the pictures you see Sam Black church .... We ventured to "At The End of the Trail" cemetery where we came to the end of our end of the trail....
I visited my father's grave and had taken pictures of the beautiful view from the top of the cross. I do visit their often just to watch the sunset.... a beautiful orange glow will highlight the top of the tombstones as the sun is setting......A time of joy and tears...
Susie and I hope you enjoy the view......A day to remember http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?Uc=prxi0xw.7kmxx3u0&Uy=-vhj4sw&Upost_signin=Slideshow.jsp%3Fmode%3Dfromshare&Ux=0&mode=fromshare&conn_speed=1

Thank you, Andy! It was very enjoyable to see the beautiful trails, woods and local scenes. West Virginia's scenery is beyond compare. (I'm biased - I admit it - in sports also. I still cheer for mountaineer football, basketball, etc.) The hike looked like great fun. You and Susie are well-conditioned adventurers. Dale

Andy, I am a pro at misplacing my log in information. I just found it again so wanted to comment on all these pictures and info you posted. These pictures are such a joy to look at. Your camera does an excellent job. Thank you for taking the photos and putting them on here, we are getting to see sites and festivities that we have missed so much. Again, thanks!

How far was that hike! You all have to be in much better shape than I am. Also, I'm trying to understand the route. Did you take the Dawson Road after the airport? It's been a long, long time since I explored the back roads.

Thank you Evenlyn and Marilyn for posting ...
I am certainly happy you enjoyed the walk....Susie and I walk started on the Rainelle side....the Road is located near the old skating rink or old bowling alley.......As we walked .. we first arrived at two beautiful farms....then the airport.....the Meadow Bluff picture is the one with the cow in it......then the end of our trail was Sam Black.........and the Cemetery....
Our walk started at ten ended around four... we walked 11 miles....
We hope soon our next adventure will be Simms Mountain.... The fall leaves have reached their peak...however the walk will be fun...
