Glen R. Gillespie
Glen R. Gillespie, 50, of 104 Cochran St. Beckley, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at his home following a short illness.
Born Oct. 7, 1947, at Rainelle, he was the son of the Lenora Brammer Gillespie and the late Joseph Howard Gillespie.
Mr. Gillespie was a 1965 graduate of Rainelle High School, and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a building contractor and a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Beckley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Joseph Gillespie; and two sisters, Peggy Diane Bragg and Lois Ann Pittman.
Other survivors include his wife of 28 years, Jo Ann Guinn Gillespie; two sons, Sgt. Rodney Brian Gillespie and his wife, Angie, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Roger Dean Gillespie and his wife, Lisa, of Jumping Branch; and a sister, Arlene Tincher of Smoot.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smathers Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Lyell Zickafoose officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1009 W. Neville St., Beckley, and one hour before the services Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jack Dempsey, Lanny Michelinnie, Kerry Tincher, Chuck Griffith, Kevin Paugh, and Mark Gillespie.
Special music will be provided by the Emmanuel Baptist Church Choir, and Frank Palmer.
