Obituary ..... Herbert L. Walker, Jr.

 

Herbert L Walker, Jr., 69, of 302 John Avenue, Clarksburg, West Virginia died at 1:45am, Sunday, February 4, 1996 in the United Hospital Center.  He was born at Sandy Huff, WV on July 25, 1926, the son of the late Herbert Lawrence and Gladys Fertig Walker.  Surviving are:  his wife, Arlene Hicks Walker, whom he married on June 30, 1947 in Charleston, WV, one son, Herbert "Larry" Walker, III of Littlestown, PA, one daughter, Karen (Gary) Fox of Cary, NC, one granddaughter, Ashley Lauren Fox of Cary, NC, one sister, Norma Zopp of DeKalb, IL, two nieces and one nephew.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Whitney Brooke Fox.

 

Herbert was a member of  Stealey Heights United Methodist Church and a member of the choir.  He was a member of the Midland Trail Masonic Lodge #166 in Rainelle, WV, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of Nemesis Temple of the Shrine in Parkersburg, WV.  He was a member of the Central WV Shrine Club, and the Oriental Band of the Shrine.  He was also a member of B.P.O.E. #482 Elks in Clarksburg, and the Antique Car Club.  He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy.  Mr. Walker was a former employee of Meadow River Lumber Company at Rainelle, WV, where he had 20 years of service, and retired from Tolley Electric Company in 1991 with 20 years of service.

 

Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home in Clarksburg on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 1996.  Interment will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
