A section I thought you might enjoy reading and sharing is a Tips Section. Sites like www.eBay.com, www.Photoworks.com, www.priceline.com, www.expedia.com, www.mapquest.com, http://earth.google.com can save a lot of time and money -- and are fun. On eBay, I have bought items such as a hard to find wheel cover for my car, clothing, an additional battery for my computer, luggage, etc., for a fraction of the price they would normally be. Many of the eBay items are new. Andy was telling me that she used www.overstock.com to get a great price on bedding items. I use Priceline.com quite a bit. I was going to Richmond recently and thought it would be fun to stay at the Omni (near my client's office), but the $183 price put me off. I went to priceline, bid $95 for a 3-star hotel & the Omni popped up (they substituted the 4-star Omni) & I stayed at the same Omni for $95. I bid $125 for a 3-star hotel when traveling to New York once & the Waldorf Astoria (probably $300 rooms) came up. Colin Lively can tell you all about the Waldorf and anything you want to know about NY. I ate dinner at the Waldorf once & I had to tip 2 people before I got to my table, then of course, tipped the waiter. It was fun, however. In other words, I have stayed at places I could never justify normally.
Another travel tip - if I want a specific hotel, I sometimes check www.hotels.com, write down their price & the hotel usually matches it after you mention that I saw it on the Web.
If any of you travel and don't have a GPS system or rent cars that don't have them and you have a notebook PC, you can get a wonderful www.delorme.com GPS system that works on a notebook computer for $85, if you do some shopping. I got mine at www.amazon.com. I rent cars often & this has saved me a lot of time & frustration.
So... feel free to post your tips. I look forward to reading them.

Classmates,
A new site of interest.... http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dream_home hope you enjoy looking at the site. This home is located in NC.. HGTV give away a home every year, of course a different location.
Look for the homegive away and take the tour of the home on the internet, you can tour every room in the house. Then enter every day. Randy and I encourage anyone living near the NC site to take the tour in person....very impressive..plus great ideas for any of you to use in your own home.
Randy and I actually toured a home when they gave it away a few years ago, the location of that hgt home give away was in Jacksonville Fl., of course at a charge..
Enjoy

Do you like some of the old cd’s, movies, etc. that you can’t find anymore. Well that was true for me. I kept looking for two items that I couldn’t find to down load. I found both as cd’s at a real great price. Both turned out to be a double cd’s. Check it out sometime. They have a ton of stuff. When I received the cd’s there was a catalogue included. http://www.oldies.com/index.cfm
At Wal-Mart you can down load songs for 88˘ + tax. There is a good selection of new and older songs. http://downloads.walmart.com/swap/

I was looking on eBay and saw something interesting (to me) and thought some other old folks from the 50’s might enjoy.
The young kids from the 60’s probably don’t remember but you are also welcome to look. All you Elvis and Beatle generation never had the chance to listen to music when you could hear the words. When I first saw this, this morning it was $40 something and now its $102.
I had forgotten Teresa Brewer and some of her music along with the Ames Brothers, Mills Brothers and all the top hits from 1950 - 1957.
Good stuff

In my brand new Funk and Wagnall's version of Readers Digest “Extraordinary Uses for ordinary things” I found a couple items that I want to share with you. The cover states “2,317 ways to save money and time”.
1. Restore your white shoes & sneakers with a cloth and 50 / 50 solution of ammonia and water. You may want to do a test area with a drop or two rubbed with a white terry cloth towel and if any color rubs off the towel stop. 2. Dead car battery. Drop 2 aspirin in the battery. The aspirin’s acertylsalicylic acid will combine with the battery’s sulfuric acid to produce one last charge. This may work for one last start. 3. Insect bites & stings maybe controlled by wetting the skin and rubbing an aspirin over the spot. 4. Snow sticking to your shovel or snow thrower. Apply two thick coats of car paste wax to the work surface of the shovel and on the inside of the snow thrower chute. 5. Make your own fabric-softener sheet. Just moisten an old washcloth with 1-teaspoon liquid softener and toss it into the dryer with your next load. 6. Help end dust on your tv screen, computer monitor, etc. Dampen your dust cloth with fabric softener straight from the bottle and dust as usual. 7. Sharpen your scissors. Fold several strips of aluminum foil into several layers and start cutting. Seven or eight passes should do it. 8. Spray away clothes wrinkles. Mist the item with 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water, hang and let it air dry. 9. Unclog a drain. Drop a couple Alka-Seltzer tablets down the opening then pour in a cup of vinegar. Wait a few minutes and then run hot water full force to clear the clog. 10. Relieve arthritis symptoms. For occasional joint pain or arthritis symptoms in the knees or other areas if the body, advocates swear by spraying WD-40 on the affected area and massaging it in, saying it provides temporary relief and makes movement easier.
Try at your own risk. If you want my complete denial and liability disclaimer send me a self-addressed, stamped envelope and pray while you wait…. and wait…. and wait.
