Mr. Richard Lee Bottomly, 73, of Keymar, MD, passed away on December 19, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Carol Bottomly, his wife of 49 years.

Born January 29, 1940 in Snake Island, WV, he was the son of the late Randolph P. and Ona Bottomly. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1963, and worked as a Union Carpenter for 27 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a Lifetime Member of the NRA, and a member of the Bass Federation.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Bottomly is survived by four sons, Richard L. Bottomly & wife Cheryl of Thurmont, Andrew Lee Bottomly of Thurmont, Michael Redden & wife Rose of Union Bridge, MD, and Norman Redden & wife Eva of Waterloo, SC; a brother, James Bottomly & wife Yolanda of Raleigh, NC; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Randolph P. Bottomly, Jr.

The family received friends from 7 – 9 PM on Monday, December 23rd at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will begin at 12 Noon today. The Rev. Ben Hayes of Life & Liberty Baptist Church in Walkersville will officiate. The funeral will conclude with Military Honors in the Veterans Garden of Honor II at Resthaven. Floral tributes are welcome. Arrangements are with Resthaven Funeral Services, Skkot Cody P.A. in Frederick.
