I have been told that Tom Mosley ran Swede's while he was in the army.

OK, I'm stumped on these. When will we get the answers?
Soon, Janet. I'm going to let some people know about them who will know some of the answers. J.L. sent them to me, but I know we have some Rainelle trivia experts who can answer them and provide additional info. Thanks, Dale

A concrete sidewalk up in Rainelle that went between the old 3rd Street and 2nd Street as the streets were called then. What was it called?

Looking west on the Rainelle Golf Course, up to towards Sewell Mountain, there is a creek that comes down to the right of the course. The creek and the woods that go up into woods had a name. What was it called? (Note: J.L. said, "and they used to stock trout there.")

From John J. Johnson: The name of the creek was Wolf Pen. I caught a few fish there when I was a young boy - a loooooong time ago. :-) |

More gems from J.L. J.L. called and we had a good conversation. Among other things, he reminded me that we and his teams practiced football on the golf course. I remember some hot days, sucking on lemons, hoping the time would pass more quickly, hoping Tim Hanley (who outweighed me by 65 pounds) wouldn't come my way with his knees churning, etc. Tim never seemed to notice that I was trying to tackle him. RV'er Jerry Arbaugh called me on Skype from California a few weeks ago and we shared some memories & updates.
Name 4 newspaper boys in the 1950's. (Remember the days of newsboys and milk deliveries?)
What was the first year the Ranger and oak leaf graphic were used on the Rainelle yearbook? (A clue if you wish to confirm your guess - the yearbooks are scanned and placed on the Website)
In all her years as a teacher, who was the only student Leone Holsberry ever sent to bus hall "detention"?

What year did we have to forfeit the undefeated football play-offs. This was under the leadership of Paul Miller and was due to alleged playing with an over-age player. What year and what player |

I believe it was 1953 and the player was Bob Houchins.

JL do you know what the term " Sam Eagle refers to " ? I would bet that very few readers knows. |

You are correct, Tom Rider - it was Slabtown. Gerry Mitchell placed some pictures of Slabtown (and more) in the Meadow River Lumber Company sideshow.
J.L. has an additional trivia question: Who was Howard Grey's private secretary for many years? |
