What a great idea! Thanks Dale, and all of you who have been working on this.

My sister Joni (Carper) Carr, 61, and her husband Gary Carr, 60, moved to Pawley's Island, SC last year. They are just getting ready to move into a new home in Merle's Inlet, so I will forward this information to them. We stay in touch on the Net, even with my parents in Florida, so we will all enjoy this new resource.

Thanks again, and I can hardly wait to get in touch with old friends.

Hello Dena

Things are OK. Hope all is well with you. I see that you have retired from teaching and are in other endeavors. Read where your sister is in Murrells Inlet. My son (Chris)lives there now and is a policman on the Myrtle Beach Police Dept.

With the moving around we did early, my wife has 4 more years to retire from teaching in Cabell county. Dont know if she will completly quit, believe it or not she still enjoys the kids but does not the administrators.
Later,
George

Wow, small world, eh? I'll have to tell Joni that your son is there. They are still waiting to move into their new home, looks like it'll be another month or so.

Yes, I understand about still liking the kids. I love my job now, I get to work with students and teachers with technology, yet no duties, lesson plans, etc. It's the best of teaching without all of the hassle.

Our older son is in Morgantown, he works for the WVU Foundation. He and his wife have two boys, and they are certainly the center of our lives. Justin is 4, Drew is 2. We get to see them pretty often, we bought season tickets for football, and try to get up there for occasional basketball games as well. Our youngest son, Dave, works here in Greenbrier County for the school system as a Computer Networking specialist. He's not even dating anyone yet, so guess we're safe in that regard for a while, ha!

It was great to hear from you. Hopefully we'll see you and your family at the next reunion. We didn't make it this year to the country club, we were on an Alaskan Cruise. It was fantastic! Take care.

I have been out of town for a few days and just got back to the discussion board. I am glad to see this post. I did not know Joni and Gary had moved, but glad they will enjoy the warm weather and retirement. You were a majorette, I believe, with my wife Nancy Williard and lived across the block from me when growing up. Joni and Gary's son was a fraternity brother of my son at WVU. We also have season tickets and set up a tailgate each game. Please stop by some time and visit with us. As we get closer to football season, I will let you know where we set up. This invitation goes to anyone out there who will be attending the mountaineer games. Take care.

I am afraid that I have been bad about getting back to the reunions.Something always makes it difficult at that time of summer for me.

As I said my son is in Murrells Inlet and my daughter is married to a Air Force Pilot and they are in Kadena Air Base in Japan now. He is the Commander of the Air Sea Rescue in the Asian theater now. They have been in most of Europe and just moved from Anchorage Alaska to Japan. We have been to visit them in most places. I did not get to Alaska but my wife brought back enough Mink coats and mink sweaters to thin the population a bit.

I travel a bit now and do not enjoy it as much as my wife when she goes with me. I work and she lounges and massages or golfs.

This past summer we moved into a new home and it pretty much took up all our spare time.

Enjoy these chats
Till next time
George

Hey, Tom! Nice to hear from you! I certainly do remember you living across the block (do you remember when Gayle Conley lived there, before she moved to Beckley, and before she became the wife of Joe Manchin? She's just as sweet and friendly as she ever was, I've seen her a couple of times, and you'd never know she was a Governor's wife.)

Anyway, I certainly remember Nancy and think of her often. The last reunion I went to, she was soooo sweet. I was all stressed because I'm about twice the size I was in high school, and I was so embarrassed to be there. She laughed it off and made me forget how I looked in a matter of minutes, it was just like old times, talking and catching up on everything. She's a special lady.

Yes, I remember your son was a Sigma Chi, Joni's older sons, Kevin and Chad were both Sigma Chis, as was our son Darren. I will definitely look you up next tailgate! Go 'Eers! :)

Isn't this message board great? I've had so much fun already talking to people I haven't seen in years and years. Take care and keep in touch!

George,
Sounds like your wife has the right idea about traveling, ha! Will you go to Japan and visit your daughter? Sounds like an exciting life for them. Did they like Alaska? I have always thought I'd like to live there for a while, but... it's way too far from grandsons and family to even consider now.
It always seems like I have a hard time getting to the reunions as well. As long as we were both teaching, that was our only time to travel or take classes, training, etc. Now that we're retired, hopefully our new jobs will allow us a little more free time in the summer. The grants that we are working now are only for this year. We're looking around in Virginia and in the Carolinas, we'd like to continue to work in education a few more years... not too far away from Lewisburg, yet far enough away to experience a lot of things we haven't been around before. Like... culture, concerts, plays, shopping and oh, yes, did I mention shopping?
Right now there are several inches of snow outside, and I'd almost forgotten how beautiful it can be. This winter has been way too warm for my taste. My parents could've stayed here this winter and not have suffered too much cold. (They are in the Florida Keys, we are planning to go see them in March, I can hardly wait. They've been there since October).
Take care and keep in touch.

Dena

Hey guys, Enjoyed seeing my brother Tommy on this site. Also, Dena Carper. I remember when she lived on 6th st.. I also, remember when Gayle Conley lived on 6th st. and she attended the Baptist Church with Ruby Corron taking her on Sunday mornings. Gayle is now Mrs. Joe Manchin. Great huh?

I am impressed. Not only did Shirley remember Gayle, she remembered where she lived. It took me a while but finally figured out who Dena was talking about. It really is nice being able to get on this board and see some of the posts. I really enjoy the bios as well. Hopefully, this will stimulate enough interest that our next reunion will be bigger than ever. You guys keep it going and I'll check in periodically now.
Tom
