Posted - 11/25/2010 : 09:09:09 Hello everyone. I heard a rumor that the funding for building the new school and associated tearing down of the current high school have fallen through. Any details will be appreciated by those of us who live elsewhere. You can post something on the discussion board or send it to me and I will relay it.

Posted - 03/16/2012 : 08:16:05 Hopefully it will be replaced by a newer gym for future generations to create the same types of memories we had there....and yes it would have been nice to relocate it for a community building as would it have been nice to keep the old mill for an educational and tourist facility. I know finances are always an issue. The nice thing is that our sentiments and memories will always be in tact as progress is made to provide the children of Rainelle with a new school. |

Posted - 02/23/2011 : 22:07:30 Thank you, J.W.! I don’t have all of the details on the following and welcome any comments. Jean Boger of Michael Gioulis Historical Preservation Consultants reported to Andy Aide Pendleton this week and asked us to post on the website that, with the exception of one dead tree, the magnificent trees in front of Rainelle Grade and High School are not going to be cut. That is great news! Thank you, Nancy McQuaint Payne, Andy, the Rainelle Planning Commission and anyone else involved, for your work to preserve the trees that mean so much to all Rangers.

Posted - 02/22/2011 : 10:28:38 Construction continues!! The old 'Shop/Band' building and the newer Title 1 building (behind the old 'Shop'/Band building) have both been removed. Excavation of the area just south of the old swimming pool has started. Last word I got was the size of the current playground was being reduced so that they could do some work on drainage at the base of the hillside beyond the old football field. Will try to get some photos posted ... now that the weather's getting more "spring-like"!! |

Posted - 11/30/2010 : 08:51:12 Bids have been received and approved! I can't think of the company's name who will have the contract, but they've started tearing down the buildings in back of the school. |
